2000 KDX220 with pro circuit...

I'm coming back to the KDX after a couple years on a KTM 400EXC. My other KDX was a 98 model 220 with a full FMF setup.
Going to look at a 2000 220 with a pro circuit pipe tomorrow. Looks like the stock silencer in the pic. I seem to remember that there were 2 models of FMF gnarly pipes - a rev model for topend and a woods model for bottom. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
My question - is there more than 1 model of pro circuit pipes for the 220? If so, which should I look for for more lowend? Does the stock silencer work well with the pro circuit pipe or should I be looking for a pro circuit silencer to match?
Is either the FMF or Pro-circuit exhaust considered to be superior to the other?
Thanks in advance

As far as I know PC only made one actual pipe for the KDX but in two different finishes, a raw metal one and a polished one. The stock silencer, while heavy, is a good unit and will work fine with the PC (or FMF for that matter) pipe. If you want to lose a bit of weight, and don't mind an increase in exhaust volume, an aftermarket silencer would be fine. Just don't expect any power gains and make sure to get one with a spark arrestor!

Thanks SS109. There IS a power increase with the Pro-circuit pipe, though - right?
Another question - I don't really want to spend the $$$ on another KX fork conversion on this one. Is there a fork brace out there for the KDX forks to stiffen the front a bit? I'm already planning on a full rework for the existing forks - revalve, sprung for my weight, new seals, etc. But I rode an XR once with a fork brace and it really improved the quality of the ride offroad.
Thoughts?

Yes, the PC will give you significant power gains across the entire RPM range. It is very similar to the FMF Fatty pipe in that regard.
I have never seen a fork brace for the KDX. You could have one made I'm sure but the cost would probably be higher than a KX conversion! Maybe find a cheap set of KLX forks or just keep yours eyes open for a really good deal on some forks.

Thanks. I have a set of KLX forks in the garage. They're leftover from a KX fork swap on my 2001 KLX300. Not sure if they're any better than the KDX forks. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

If you're an aggressive rider the stock forks can kill you no matter what you do to them - I've done the gold valve, heavier spring route and they still spit me over a cliff - they just flex too much - you can actually see the front wheel get cocked sideways - and it's the rebound that gets you!! ANY USD fork will likely flex less, and I remember KLX suspensions getting good reviews - I'd go for it - you probably won't need a revalve as you would with MX forks.

Thanks Kawagumby - at least the KLX forks would be a cheap conversion. Might need triples, but not much. I've heard the KLX forks do respond well to springs/revalve.

Pretty sure the klx forks and tripled bolt right up, no stem swap needed. They still lack rebound adjusters, though. If you have them sitting there, I would certainly bolt them up. They will be an improvement over the stock forks, and the swap is easy.

Does PC still make the Platinum II? For a while it was just in fact chrome or not, then they came out w/ the II, which was a torque pipe if I remember.

Received an email from the PC Sales Department who advised "Sorry that pipe has been discontinued." They did not mention any replacements so I am assuming PC has dropped the KDX line at this time. Guess we are pushed to FMF now (except for the used and/or bid sites). Maybe I will have to try a "woods" pipe sometime in the near future. I believe it would be the closest to the PC Platinum 2.
