Hi. I need to carry tire tools, spare tube, lunch, maps, etc. So I need a pair of saddle bag. I tried backpack but hate it. Summer is coming, and I'll hate the backpack even more. Am setting up my KDX for dualsport rallies. Need bags that'll last under hard use.
(1) What's the best option for saddle bag?
(2) If I use saddle bag, do I need to add a sturdy rack?
(3) I also want a tank bag for my GPS. I saw people strap their GPS to their tank bag. Much safer than handlebar mount. What is good tank bag for KDX?

Really? What about just getting a bigger rear bag, tank bag and a fender/headlight bag?
I was just thinking the saddlebags would be too cumbersome.
check these larger bags out

Wolfman E-10 Enduro saddle bags, I use it on my 94 KDX it fits perfectly and if i need more room he makes a top bag that clips into the system. Very well made and thought out. I have all of the Enduro line Wolfman makes. Fender Tool bag is Very roomy also. I will say the Enduro tank bag does get in the way a little when i stand up.

I use a Camelbak Mule. You're gonna need water, and it has extra pockets for snacks, tube, spark plug, zip ties, etc. I carry other tools in a fanny pack, though it's less than ideal when riding thru gnarly stuff.

Yeah it's kinda ridiculous that a bag costs half the value of my bike?

Take a look at what these guys have. Moto-adventure gear. I buy from them often. Jeff is the owner and is a great guy to deal with. He is an avid rider and has a wealth of knowledge.
