I wonder if 5w30 or 10w30 would work fine as fork/shock oil ?

Anyone already try it ?

thanks!

No, it wont. Motor oil foams up too much.
You can use ATF though, Mobil 1 synthetic ATF is around 7.5 wt.

I have used power steering fluid, too as it is a hydraulic fluid and has an anti-foaming agent in it. It's what I had in the garage.

5/30 or even 0w mobil 1 is too thick. I tested the viscocity between Mobil 1 and 5wt Bel Ray fork oil, and there is no comparison. I used 2 small dixe cups and poked a pin hole trough the bottom of each cup. I filled each cup with oil and timed how long it took each cup to drain. By the time the fork oil had drained the Mobil 1 0w oil still had 3/4 of a cup remaining. At that point I knew even the thinnest motor oil would not work as fork oil.

When I bought my DRZ the forks were really stiff. Went to change the fluid and the dood had put motor oil in there. Mo better after putting ATF in there . .
