Heated Grips?

Hey guys,
I've got a 95' KDX 200. I ride in the Pacific Northwest so it can get pretty cold and nasty. I was looking at getting some heated grips. It looks like most of them require a battery but obviously the KDX doesn't have one.
Have any of you bought any heated grips that work? Even if it requires a battery can you just jerry rig it to run off the magneto?

The ones on my sled work off the magneto with no battery. I don't know what the wattage is.

I just put heated grips on my '01 KDX 200. They work awesome! No battery needed. I used SPI,
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/9/ ... r-Kit.aspx . I got mine for about $25. The only down side was no instructions. A friend just put the Enduro Engineering one on,
https://www.enduroeng.com/ProductDetail ... 1177528227 . They were about $30 and included instructions. Neither set included a fuse. I added one, my buddy didn't. Your choice. Both of us use only the low setting. Hi is way to warm.
The only real downside is that your headlight gets REAL dim.
Good Luck,

You don't need a battery. Pull the tank and find a hot wire and mount the toggle switch behind the headlight somewhere.

Run off the headlight wires with a three way toggle
High, Low, w/lights off or Lights on w/out grip heat
also rewire the grip heaters with test lead wire, you can buy it at radio shack
It's less susceptible to breakage

To get over the DIM HEADLIGHT, get your Stator Beefed Up....Ricky Stator has something for the KDX....

All I did was replace my stock headlite with a Polisport LED unit that draws only about 7-10 watts and is about 10 TIMES BRIGHTER!!! I also replaced my tail lite with a LED 1156 that doesn't draw hardly any juice at all. Now I can run my heated grips on high and the super bright headlite all the time and not tax the stock stator.
