Hi, just want to say hello to all. I joined to learn more about my bike, a 1987 200 that is missing some parts and needs some repair. Its my first 2 stroke and am excited to get it ready to ride.

I need a new gas cap but Kawasaki and the parts store don't have them. Is there one from another bike that will fit or know where to find one?

Howdy!

I'm in Crockett- Any help you need, gimme a holler!
As far as the gas cap, do you have any friends with dirt bikes?
See if theirs fit yours, give you an idea what you might need, size-wise..

Welcome! Congrats on your bike!

I like seein more and more of these air cooled KDX's pop up. We don't have a lot of members holding them atm, but getting more all the time. Hopefully soon this site will be as good a resource for the older air cooled models as it is for the E and H bikes.

Thanks for the link, just ordered a cap and some handlebar dampers to replace the rotted ones so my bars are straight.

You'll find a lot of parts you can still get from retail suppliers online. The little bits that you can't find can be awfully tough to track down. Have you had the flywheel off? I think the flywheel magnets coming to bits was the death of a lot of those bikes. The flywheels are hard to come by.

I got an email back from bikebandit and the gas caps are discontinued. Same thing happened when I went to the dealer for one and another online retailer. Lame.

The air filter cage I was missing arrived today. It's an NOS part I got off ebay.
