I've done this a dozen times---It is not getting easier:
How do you get the carb stuck back in between the boots? I've just tried pulling back the intake rubber and pushing the carb into that first---then try to maneuver the small diameter of the carb into it's boot up front. I've been leaving the clamps at both ends on the boots but with the screws out---so they will flex outward to allow the carb to slide in. This process is always a PITA. It's hard to line up on that front boot. Is there a better way?

I have installed the engine side first, then (I have no rear band) I shove the rear in while holding the rear boot back and then slipping it in. Then I wire the rear boot closed. Waiting on a clamp.....
In the cold this wouldn't be fun.

reach around the frame and pull the airbox boot back and get the front in first...tighten the front clamp. then work the back boot on by moving it slightly right to left and it will slip right on. definately harder when cold...good luck

I always put it on the airbox boot first
