I have never even seen one in person. Are they a bike worth having? are parts still available for them?

The engine parts are still available. The plastics are Ebay only or some other used source. The tank, shrouds, side panels, and rear fender are KDX250 only pieces. They are very heavy at 274 pounds wet which is heavier than most 450's! They are also known for not being the greatest turning bikes.

Sounds like I don't like them, huh? True to a point but not entirely. I absolutely love the engine. The chassis is what limits the bike IMO. It has taken about a year of fiddling with it to get as fast as I was on my 200 even though it has way more power. The chassis is great in the open desert but is a handful in the tight stuff.

If you could find a cheap KX250 roller to put the engine in you would really have a great bike IMO (hence my planned KDX250AF conversion!). I would talk him down on the price though. I paid $450 for mine and it was ready to ride and with a clear title. Hell, try it, you just might like it!

I've never seen one in person either. Going by what I've read about them though, I think I'd rather have a 200 or 220 with a big bore kit.

What frame is that? It looks like a perimeter frame. Very different from an e200.

Would love to have this motor for a KXD250 Hybrid...

Go for it! It looks pretty clean. Yeah, the chassis is big and bulky. But it is a really powerful bike if it is setup correctly. Once you ride it, you will see why everyone wants to swap that motor into a modern frame. It has the potential to be the ultimate trail bike.

Is the power valve problematic like the E's? What type of clutch set up do they run? Is it one with the push pin from the left side or are they set up like the 200's? In one of the listings they said it just needs new plates.

P.S. It has been on Craigslist since at least November 20th and they wanted $800 for it then.

I don't think the Powervalve is a big issue on the 250. I never had a problem with mine as long as I kept them clean. The clutch has the left side actuator. It is set up like a KX, not like a KDX200.

The engine is basically a same era kx250 with a thicker base gasket and a wide ratio trans. Great motor.
