I am taking the kick stand off of the swingarm

I am making a bracket to weld onto the frame so I can use a KLX250 or 300 kick stand.

I am either going to make one or several on a water jet or laser.

Not sure anybody else has interest

Curious...why? I'm interested to see it but I don't understand the reasoning behind it.

Interested.
I'm using a trailtech stand right now.
Like it but would prefer a stronger mounting point.
Post some pics when you get one fabbed up.

Same here for all of the above.

Because the swing arm kick stand sucks.

I'm interested in seeing your final product.

How so? The kick stand on my '90 200 and my '94 KDX250 both work great. So, again, what makes them suck in your opinion?

Even if it didn't flop and otherwise add unsprung weight, it still looks stupid. I just don't like it.

I can understand maybe not liking the looks as that is a personal thing. The little bit of unsprung weight is for the most part a non-issue on a trail bike. Plus, I have never had one of my kick stands flop so I don't understand what you are talking about there. Of course, do what you like as it is your bike!

Yah, post some pictures and such when you get some made. I've got no problem with the stock stand, but I'm always interested in new ideas.

I pretty much agree that the stock stand is great, but ugly. I had the same type on my old WR also and they've never failed me. However, I would be interested in a Pro Moto Billet stand if one could be made to fit he KDX. Had one on a KTM and it was bad ass!

That's why I don't use it. The "U" part on the stand wears out. The bracket that mounts to the swingarm wears out too. Making the stand flop around. Got tired of replacing them and tired of guys saying "man your kickstand flops around."

Must be an H series thing!

If it's an H series deal, it must be random. Mine is totally solid, no looseness anywhere, when up or down. Dunno..

Oh, I agree! Just taking a jab at my fellow H series brothers and sisters! I think I covered this a while back but just a little preventative maintenance on the stand will keep it in great shape for the life of the bike. Clean and lube it once a year and all will be well!

And it's still ugly.

Well, I have never known kick stands to be pretty so....

So you take it off, then you got 4 ugly bolt holes to do something about. So you make an ugly plate to bolt over the ugly bolt holes. Now you've traded one ugly for another ugly, plus you have to find something to lean your bike on all the time. Or rig up something else that hopefully won't add more ugly to the ugly that's already there.
No breaks for the stylish huh?

Not a big fan of the factory kickstand either. It gets to be a real pain in the a$% if you happen to go down on a deeply rutted hill and when you try to roll the bike back and around to nose it down the hill and the stand digs into the hill. I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with. keep us in the loop.
