i have a 2000 kdx 220 that will start up and idle and run fine, but after riding for a minute or two it will start to cut out and then shut off. any ideas of why it is doing this?

my first guess would be a lack of fuel

try running it once and when it starts to cut off unscrew the tank cap
if it picks back up again the venthole is plugged up
if that doesnt do it pull the carb apart and give it a good cleaning

make sure you check to see if the float has fuel in it (it shouldnt) and that it is adjusted to speck

I have fuel and i already took the carb apart and everything seemed to be just fine

Does it sputter like too much fuel when it starts to cut out? Maybe the choke is not seating properly and letting too much fuel by, or the float level is too high.

Is the plug wet when it shuts off?
