Hello all. I've searched all over for someone that’s tried what I’m thinking about and can’t find anything. So I'm posting it here.
First, some background.
My wife rides a KX100 and is a really good rider. She's getting to the point where the size (and to a lesser extent, the power) of the bike (including the 17" front and 15" rear wheels) is holding her back from taking it to the next level.
The challenge: She's exactly 5' 0" and 115 lbs.
She starts and rides my spare KDX 200 but obviously that chassis is both too tall and to heavy. I want to find a chassis with the following:
Short seat
big wheels (21" and 18").
Not slammed so much that she hits high-center.
We ride on Oahu in Hawaii so the terrain is very challenging.
My question:
Has anyone heard of someone stuffing a KDX 200 motor in a trials chassis?
I want to get a long-ride seat and tank.
Before anyone asks, yes she's tried a trials bike but has a hard time (as-in impossible) starting it.
We looked at a Scorpa that uses a YZ250 bottom end so I think a KDX200 motor would fit but it would be great if I could find someone who’s done it.
Thanks for any advice you guys can give.
BTW, I have a 2008 KTM300 but I love riding our 95 KDX that we got for free and fixed up for my step son to ride when he visits. I like whooping up on guys on brand new bikes on that old beast!
Also, I have a whole other KDX 200 motor from a 99 so I’m not sacrificing the 95 for this project.
KDX 200 in a trials chassis? Is it possible?

no one on this site has done it as far as I know.
Have you thought about doing a kx hybrid? It's a bit lighter and lower. You can probably lower it even more by changing the link and shaving the seat.
It's odd she can't start the trial. Is that a 4 strokes?
i used to have one (2 strokes) and it was as easy as the KDX.
Good luck.

KTM 150XC....or a hybrid?
Can lower your KDX, and shave foam...Many have done this.
An E series KDX sits lower to start with.
Neither of the KDX solutions solve the weight problem....However I think this can be solved with training on the correct way to pick a bike up.

The Scorpa that we tried was way harder than the KDX. There's a Gas Gas 280 for sale here locally. I'm going to try to see if it's any different. I've also heard about people putting thicker base gaskets to lower the compression. I'm going to take measurements on the KDX engine and try to see if there's even a chance.scheckaet wrote: It's odd she can't start the trial. Is that a 4 strokes?

As far as "training" her to pick up the KDX, Ijust don't think that's feasible. She could do it when she's fresh on dry, flat ground, but tired on a sloppy wet trail? Not happending. Thanks for all of the sugeestions.
