87 Octane instead of 93, safe or not safe?

On my most recent riding trip when I was filling up my friends truck we borrowed I accidently had the gas pump guy put in 87 Octane for my mix instead of 93. (I'm in NJ and its illegal to pump your own) I know that the E series kdx bikes are low compression motors compared to just about any other MX style 2 stroke with lots of compression. Not sure if the H series motors have more or less compression. I'm just wondering has anyone ever run 87 instead of 93 and had a problem with pinging or anything? Should I just safely dispose of the mix and and start over? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Run it, you don't need 93 unless the head is cut

according to my boss 40+ yrs experience ect... the only problem with running the lower octains is all the additives that are put in the gasoline these days we have found 90% of the bikes, atvs ect... that come in the shop the fuel has sat longer than 2 weeks in the fuel tank and has gummed up the carb causing starting, idling and running issues so I would say your fine as long as the 83 octaine doesnt sit stagnent for longer than 10 days I dont know near as much as some of the people on this forum but he talks to me and his customers on a daily basis about how low grade the fuel is these days
just my 2cents on the fuel issue

Think it has more to do with where you buy your gas than the grade
My truck has been sitting with a half tank of regular E10 in it for the past 11 months
It runs fine
And I've been running my premix that was just as old without any issues

if your truck has had e10 in it for 11 months, i bet you a donut the inside of the tank is rusted. ethonl draws moister like crazy! i want even run that stuff in my lawnmower.

I've had not a single issue with my fuel since we went to E10
KDX sat for 5 months and started on the second kick
Lawnmower sat all winter and started right up, I don't use stabil, just run my KDX gas in it

I put a little bit of Stabil in every jug of gas I buy.
So far I have not had any issues.

I have stored my KDX for the last 5 years over winter without using stabilizer
and kept whatever premix I have had to dump it in next spring.
Never have I had any problems and my bike runs great.
That 10 day or 2 week rumor on premix is a line of crap.
Shake it up and go.

Nope !
I don't put E-10 in anything own let alone e-85.
The article says the E-10 has a shelve life of 90-100 days
although it doesn't say why I would imagine it is due to
the fuel being hygroscopic and at that point the fuel is
saturated to the point where it starts effecting performance.
Agreed ??
