Once those little brass inserts start to spin your pretty much done. You could try to use a pointed punch on the sides of the insert to try to get it to bite into the plastic. Good luck

If you get it hot enough while putting pressure on it the insert will pull out of the tank. Then you can epoxy or jb weld it back in. To heat it up, use a heat gun, or put an electric drill on the bolt and just spin the hell out of it until it melts its way out of the tank. That's the only fix I know of.

I had to do that. Pull it out, and use Epoxy to stick it back in.

I think jb weld would work good enough and is less messy than the epoxy.

I may have an IMS tank for sale soon if you are interested.email me:

I had the same problem when I was replacing my old purple tank.

I now have the Clarke oversized tank and i love it. It fit great and you use the regular KDX shrouds. And I love having the extra fuel.

Prep and cleanliness is the post important part. Clean/scuff both surfaces, and rinse with contact cleaner....then allow PLENTY of time to cure....then don't overdo it when tightening.

I'm dealing with the same problem now. Only it's the 2 bolts that hold the tank to the frame.
Going to grind the heads off of the bolts and hopefully get the tank pried out. Been wanting a clear Clarke for a while, looks like the final reason to get one.
