Complete '00 YZ250 front end

I'm picking up a 2000 YZ250 for $400 tomorrow.
Anyway, I've searched but not seeing where too many folks have used YZ forks... much less the complete front end. I'm thinking this would just involve the steering stem for the most part. Maybe steering stop tweaks. Advice anyone?
If none of the above pans out I intend to make out like a bandit on the part-out in order to fund a future KX front end conversion.
I plan to pull the motor & investigate the trans after the Hatfield-McCoy ride in May. If it'd be a fairly cheap repair, I'll grab the other needed parts & add another bike to the stable... or sell at a profit. If it looks like an expensive fix, I've got the idea to fit the entire front end to my '00 KDX220 & part out the rest of the bike. (Or possibly contemplate a hybrid with a KDX250 engine!)The bike is complete with GPR steering stabilizer, two tanks, large one and stock also. Extra moose seat, bark busters, FMF pipe and silencer. The only thing missing is the fenders. It is stuck in gear but it does have good compression and the bike was running two years ago when it was parked. I do not have the time to fix this bike.
