KIPS Main Shaft Oil Seal

I'm beginning to reassemble the top end after having the cylinder replated. Which way do the seals for the KIPS main shaft install into the head? Is it with the bottom of the U shaped seal towards the center of the head or towards the outside of the head? I can't remember how they were installed when I removed them.

When I did mine, I put the bottom of the U towards the outside of the head.

Thank you. The more I thought about this, that's the conclusion I came to, too, but wanted to be sure by asking others. The service manual was no help and I could find no pictures of this online.

I do remember having to pry out the old ones from the center hole, out and the only way to have done that would be if the U shaped side of the seal were towards the outside.
