Thanks!
I got some new bars and AVS levers in yesterday. Still waiting on the new hub for the rear to show up.
Currently working on the pipe mount and silencer, going to see what I can do with using the KX can with the KDX internals etc..
I stripped the green off the subframe, the brushed look should work out...
Has anyone polished out the swingarm?

Has anyone polished out the swingarm?
yup, well kinda and it was a pain in the ass!
It's kinda pointless in the end, unless you coat it with something to protect it, it'll scratch very easily. (I'm no expert at this so there might be some tricks to get the job looking good and STAYING good)
I didn't really finished mine and ran with it. Check my hybrid build and you'll see what I ended up with.

man..that thing is lookin SWEET!! cant wait to see what the finished product looks like! and about the swing arm...iv heard the same thing scheckaet said about polishing stuff...it just gets really scratched and nasty lookin...i have some friends at a honda, kawi suzuki shop and i see polished dirt bikes come in all the time they look kinda ragged because of all the scratches. but if your willing to repolish it all the time then id def. go for it..it looks really good if you keep up with it!

Thanks for the comps guys!
I think I might just with a brushed look on the tube sections and leave the casting painted.
Anyone have any luck fitting an oversized tank to their hybrid? I was leaning towards a Clark 3.3 gallon?

I've got one on my '04, but I had to make an adaptor to rotate the coolant outlout on the top of the head a few degrees for clear the tank.
I'm pretty sure I've seen oversize tanks on the '99-'02 bikes. I don't remeber what, if any, modifications were necessary.

Ya, I was checking that mod out a few days ago.... pretty slick!!!

Thanks. I just didn't feel comfortable trying to heat up that part of the tank to change the shape. The plastic was thick at that spot and I figured I had a good chance to screwing it up.

Where do you plan on routing all your wiring? Where are you putting CDI and Coil? that was one thing we didnt really like about our Hybrid. We dont like where we put them.

I'm going with the KX coil in the stock location, wire routing will be between tank and frame, and the CDI will be mounted to airbox or subframe...

U can do that? I really don't know much about coils but I figured we had to use Kdx. Will that make it run different?

Those that have done this report no problems to date... but along with that there is also no information on whether any performance improvement exists.
Besides... it fits nice!

Getting that swingarm going... the paint is stripped and working on getting the finish looking even. I'm thinking a good powder coat would be much easier... LOL! My fingers are hurting from sanding...

Just a little info on spokes...
I'm using a RAD mfg. hub that is spec'd to be compatible with 99'-03' KX oem so really shouldn't be much different over stock.
Brake side spokes (inner & outer) are OK at 190mm. The drive. side inners are good at 192mm.... the outside 9 spokes on the drive side could stand to be 3mm longer.
ProWheel spokes come with 18x190mm and 18x192... I believe Excel does the same.
The bottom line is that this is not an issue... other than I have 9 spokes with less than 50% nipple ingagement!
Spoke lengths are for a 18" rim.... you can add 13mm for all lengths for a 19" rim!

Not really liking the factory exhaust rubber mounts... not to mention how much they cost! I was looking for another option... so I picked these mounts from McMasterCarr for $6 each!
In this configuration the lower mount will be tight (I removed the FMF lower mount in favor of just making my own), but doable!
