Riding it without the regulator won't do anything.

Starting to sound like an ignition issue. You didn't remove the stator at all? Primary resistance is from the blue wire to the big mounting lug and should be 0.2 ohms. You said the secondary was in spec, what did you measure? It is also possible that the CDI is starting to have issues, but generally you lose all spark when it goes. Definitely a puzzler.

I didn't touch the stator. I pulled the flywheel off tonight to look for corrosion and broken wires. Looked new. I will check the coil tomorrow. Thanks for input. Can you confirm that the voltage regulator is separate from the ignition and not needed?

Yes, I can confirm that. The regulator is not needed at all unless running lights.

Have you tried unscrewing the plug wire from the cap, then nipping the wire flush and screwing it back onto the cap?

I did cut the wire when I tested the resistance and screwed it back on but haven't tested yet. The wire looked okay

Here are my readings. Hopefully you can see what the meter is set on as well.

So took it for a test ride and it runs a little better. Mixed up a new batch of fuel, clipped the spark plug wire, took off air box cover. It still seems the power band isn't where it used to be. Would a new wiseco piston shorten the power band? I know it really lacked on the top end before. Another thing is I have been riding a 06 cr125r which has tons of power. I wonder if I am just used to that torque monster?

The torture test magazine dude did keep saying that his 200 kept performing better the more hours he put on it.

Ok let's try this. This is shifting through the gears. To me, it doesn't seem to Rev out like it should.

What's your ignition timing set to?

I have never touched it, so OEM specs I would guess.

Don't guess, check it. You're chasing your tail trying to figure out a problem, and you haven't even checked the most basic of things yet. You even had the flywheel off already you said.

I hear you nick. I am reluctant to start changing things because it was running perfectly before the top end. I think my next course is to put the old reeds in. Maybe they weren't OEM and I replaced with the cheapest Boysens. Probably triple check the carb as well since it has to come off anyway. But thanks for your suggestion and it definitely won't hurt to look at what it is set at.

Hold up... you had the flywheel off? Double check that you got the woodruff key reinstalled and that it didn't shear off. Either could cause your problem.

Did that SS109. Still in perfect condition. BUT.....I feel pretty good I may have figured it out. I pulled out the reeds today to exchange with the old. While carefully putting it back together I noticed the reed block does have a right side up. If you put it in upside-down the angle doesn't line up with the carb throat effectively blocking half the fuel. I didn't pay attention when I took it off which way it was but feeling hopeful that's what it was. I will test ride tomorrow. Keeping fingers 🤞

SS109 what part of AZ are you? I'm heading to Tucson in a week or so.
