I just had a moment of possible clarity. When I removed my air filter to try starting without it I noticed the bottom portion looked a bit more saturated then the rest of the filter. I wonder if I over oiled the filter at the end of last year and that's causing an issue. Obviously it would be rich but again not sure how this would have caused an issue on the trail, but been fine when I got home, and now again causing an issue.

Took a quick look in my muffler and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Going to try cleaning my air filter again and see if it helps at all.

That's normal as gravity pulls the oil to the bottom of the filter, and shouldn't be causing a 'no-start'.

Well got the filter cleaned and tried kicking her over. No change, which I didn't imagine there would be. At this point I'm leaning towards motor work. Even though my compression is good I may have a blown deal somewhere. I don't think there is anything left to check otherwise.

vacuum test / pressure test

I'm going to try changing the plug one last time before I condemn the motor. I'm thinking if it got wet with gas a few times it may be too fouled, even though it looks new and sparks when I test it.

No change with new spark plug. I think it may be time to tear down the motor and do some further inspection. Not sure what else could be the problem if I have fuel, air, spark, and compression.

Let me ask a question. I know that typically if a bike has a worn/broken piston ring it will cause low compression, but is it possible for it to somehow cause high compression? I've seen on a couple of online searches that people have had piston rings break causing the bike to bog out, die, and not restart.

Nope

Have you read any on a pressure and vacuum test before engine disassembly?

I have. It's a matter of finding the correct tools to make the leakdown kit. I really don't want to buy the expensive motion pro kit.

You can make a leakdown tester kit with common parts from your local auto parts store, plenty of youtube vids/websites showing how. Hardest part is blocking off the intake/exhaust. And for the love of all things holy don't use an air compressor to pump it up. I usually go to 5 psi for 5 minutes.
