So I had a weird break down the other day. Haven't started trouble shooting yet. I was riding out in the sand pit. Turned off the bike to rest my arms. And it wouldn't start again. Pushed it a quarter of the way back home and got it to barely start and barely idle by holding the throttle wide open. Held it there for a few min till I could find a sweet spot right before 1/4 throttle where it would rev to the moon. Put it in first and rode it all the way home. If you gave it any more throttle than that 1/4 throttle or so it would bog and stumble. Can't figure out why it's like that.

A few questions about my 94 kdx200

Sounds like you might have developed an air leak. If the air leak is somewhere downstream of the carb, you might be able to spray a little premix in the suspect area and see if the performance changes.

I would also check for crank seals. If the ignition side seal is leaking, you should see premix under the flywheel or flywheel cover.

I have had very similar problem with a blockage of the main jet. Idled perfectly but as soon as the throttle was cracked past 1/4 or so, flame out.

Also possible your main jet fell out.

Found the problem. I'm pissed. Image
These were brand new. No more than 2 dozen rides on them.

So I'm going back to my stock reeds until I get word back from moto tasinari.

I have a question. I just ordered a top end wiseco piston kit. On the out side of the box is says 95 to 06. But the piston box inside the main box says 87-06. Are the e series and h series pistons and gaskets interchangeable?

Nitro methane??

I think the OEM piston is 1989+. I don't know about the gallery's. Check online at Kawasaki.com or other online parts diagrams.

Good luck.

What do you mean nitro methane?

I was under the impression that they're the same piston. I'd check with wiseco to be sure.

Just joking. Were you running nitro to make it blow back / up?

Haha. Yeah no. I just think it's funny the stock reeds on the parts bike are in better shape than the reeds I bought for big money in november.

Ok so the parts bike motor is in much worse shape then just a topend. Granted I basically just plucked it out of the frame of the other bike and slapped it in this one. Put my new carb and reeds on it and called it a day. I got what I wanted. A few good rides. But I figured the day would come where the unknown hours and problems would come to the surface.

The rod bearings are smoked. Both of them. Bottom end prob needs a whole rebuild. Looked like there was a little oil in the coolant. It's obvious it leaks out of the clutch cover. Image

Image

On the plus side I still have my rebuilt bottom end. Just gotta sort out that clutch issue and then reassemble the top end.

There's still alot of little things I've been putting off with this bike. Spring is coming so I wanna start chipping away at it.

The list
1. I wanna get new reeds or see if moto tassinari will make good with these and send me new pedals for free. Maybe it was a fluke failure.

2. I wanna figure out why my clutch on the other motor wasn't really working and fix it.

3. I need to figure out why the kick start return spring isn't working.

4. Reassemble topend kit fresh gaskets. And get it running.

5. Re wire my headlight and get that working good. Maybe mess around with that hid.

6. Figure out the wiring with the ac/DC rectifier thingy. How that works what I gotta do to get my horns working and maybe a trail tech.

7. Wire up my tail light and get a front brake switch working.

8. Figure out which of the forks I have are better and rebuild one set and make them rideable.

9. Get the other set of rims off the other bike and get a decent set of tires, rotors, and sprokets on them.

10. Rebuild the front and rear brake calipers and install My new pads.

11. Ride it.

Issue #3, 99% of the time the plastic guide in the spring is not on correctly. It may look like it is but it only has to be off a tiny bit and the kicker will not return. I had to do mine 5 or 6 times in order to finally get it to work. Finally, I made a mark with a sharpie on where the guide has to be. Made it much easier to install correctly.
