A few questions about my 94 kdx200

I would try to find somebody that does our kind of stuff; bikes, quads, Karts, PWCs, that sort of stuff. IMO, they would be more into small engine performance issues. You felt the car shop you went to was in over his head.

I called around. One machine shop I called said it would be 2 weeks just to look at it. I finally found one that agreed to look at it and it's only 2 miles from my job. I dropped it off after work. I walked in to their shop. Oh man. Hard to keep my mouth closed. So many cool toys. They had a lathe in there that was as long at least 30 feet long. Any way I handed it to him and he looked at it long and hard. Not saying anything. Running his hands Over the piston and cylinder many times turning it in the light. He said it might be difficult to determine what the true bore was due to some of the scouring on the cylinder. But he would run a dial gauge over it and check the roundness for any high spots. I heard him say something to his apprentice about Monday when he took down my info so at least I'll know something by the beginning of next week.

I'm getting really aggrevated with people right now. I was told when I dropped the cylinder last Friday that I would at least hear from them by monday. I waited a few days figuring they might be busy. Finally it's late morning Thursday and I can't wait any longer. Call the machine shop get the receptionist. Who passes me off to another guy then another guy who says we didn't find anything wrong with the cylinder bore however "we don't really have the specialized gauges. We only have telescoping gauges. You could bring it somewhere else to a bike specialty shop to have them check it" I asked if they put anything in writing or wrote any of the measurements down like I asked for? " i don't know.....Paul might have but I don't know if he did" I asked if he could recommend a specialty shop that would have the proper measuring tools? He said to call napa.

So in conclusion after wasting g 6 days I still have no answer. Gonna call napa.

What a joke this is. I called napa asking for recommendations of shops after explaining what I needed. He gave me 3 names. 2 of the places I already went and the one place that's booked 2 weeks out.

Tom at The Moto Lab is a great guy. Had him rebuild my crank. It's nice that he is local too.

NETRA.org forum's are a great help also. They have a vintage section and the guys there are very helpful. Maybe ask there.

The moto lab is only 45 min away. That's not bad. I may try him.

I just haven't had time lately to go up to Putnam. I've been busy lately between work and night school. Then I've been dealing with some knee pain that after a mri turned out to be a large cyst inside my knee so I gotta get that taken care of in 2 weeks. Also working on getting some projects buttoned up around the house before winter comes. The largest one was finishing my wife's horse barn. Putting the roof on andinsulating it. Now I just have the door to build and it's done. Also been working on some other projects in my garage. Some car projects and also installing a gas furnace to supplement my wood stove so I can work more comfortable thru the winter.

Here's the surpriseImageImageImageImage

It's a whole other parts bike. It's actually in good shape. Not sure if I'll fix up both or keep it for parts but it was FREE!!!! It's not seized. I'm excited. It came with 2 gold series fmf pipes. Both with dents. Anyone have any suggestions to fix them?
