Sped66, the quality of your video is great !!
What are you using for a cam ?
An older model ContourHD. They can be had online for a lot less than the newer models, but are limited to 720p. It's good enough for my needs.
Affordable though!

Rick . . . which week did you put in for vacation?

Once we get "when" answered, next would be "where", specifically to find a cabin. Remember how quickly they go.

Well, I thought they would have asked me by now, but they havent. Guess I will know in the next couple of weeks....

SWEET! Looks like it'll connect to Indian Ridge?

For the future, there's a lot of talk about doing something similar to the HM trail system in SW VA.

So . . . I'm sorta hijacking Rick's thread a bit but I'm anxious to see if any dates or places sound good for interested folks.

BTW, the sooner we start picking times and places, the sooner we can make reservations when there's plenty of them available. Experience has been that spots starting filling up suprisingly quickly.

I can put together a list of abodes for the places we're most likely to stay based on responses - Rockhouse (Man or Gilbert) or Pinnacle Creek. I'll even make a few phone calls to ask about amenities.

No surgery yet and now looks like February before it's done.
Looks like I may not be able to ride a bike by then BUT.
I may come along sporting one of these......

Only been to Rockhouse once & stayed at TWIN HOLLOW in Gilbert...in a tent. (Cabins looked really nice from the outside.) The view is incredible & owners are nice folks. The gravel drive up the mountain to get there is really, really steep. If it had been wet I wouldn't have made it up. No trailer, but I don't have 4wd either. Check out the view:

For the Pinnacle system I highly recommend ASHLAND RESORT
Yes, it's at the Indian Ridge trailhead.... but there's a connecting trail to Pinnacle. I've been there twice & it's a first class, affordable place to stay. Shower house is nice! Here's footage of one of their cheapest cabins:

At $50-ish per night that's not bad when you split it 2 or 3 ways. Of course, they offer larger accomodations as well.
Hmmm, looks like there may be a third system to hit there by spring?? Quote from Ashlands site:

Construction has begun on what is now officially named the Pocahontas Trail System. Slated for completion in the spring of 2011, the trail will be adjacent to the Indian Ridge Trail System. A connection point will be built on the mountain above Ashland Resort. When completed, the Pocahontas Trails will add up to 100 new miles of ATV adventure! Earlier this fall a connector was opened to Pinnacle Creek Trail System. With the Pocahontas, Indian Ridge, and Pinnacle Creek Trails Ashland Resort Guests will have direct campground access to over 250 miles of connected managed trails.

But I don't care where you fellas decide to go. If I can make it, I'll be there.

Twin Hollow is pretty nice and has clean restrooms and showers.
Wayne and family are nice but don't think about washing your bike.

The hubby & I are looking in the direction of a Kentucky move here in the next five (hopefully less) years. Maybe riding will be a bit less expensive ... ???

Love our fellow KDX riders. :)

I'm curious if Mr. Wibbens will be along for this trip?
I keep reading about his vastly superior 200, in virtually every thread, & I'd like to see this golden egg in action for myself. :prayer:
That is to say, if my insignificant 220 can keep up long enough to be a witness to such magnitude.... :please:

Can't beat the deals at Honda East in Ohio.
Those guys always blow away the dealers prices around my neck of the woods.

Hey, let's pick the system first and then talk dates. Craig is ready to go. We both liked Rockhouse and Bear Wallow but if there's something else people are interested in doing... let's here it.

Stay in Gilbert and ride Rockhouse? Rockhouse has the most and largest variety and Gilbert's got some great cabins (I'm getting some details together about what's available NOW). We've ridden Rockhouse a bunch and STILL haven't hit all the blue trails, much less the black trails.

Drive between Gilbert and Pineville - if we wanna go ride Pinnacle - is 30 miles (40 minutes); drive between Gilbert and Logan - if it rains and we wanna ride Bear Wallow - is ALSO 30 miles (40 minutes). So Gilbert gives us the widest of options.

Just some thoughts . . . I'm OK if others have strong preferences, it's all good!!

Any of you guys that went the first year remember these cabins? They were in Gilbert and were between where we stayed and the river. VERY nice but they're no more expensive than others. Includes grill and a firepit as well as bike washing capabilities.

For the life of me I do not see the cabin that we stayed at the first year. Those were OK accomodations, kinda close to the road but a nice place.

Here's another, very good rates with good amenities and a large back deck overlooking a creek.
