Sorry to go off topic but how much more difficult is it to rebuild a set of USD forks compared to conventionals? I just finished doing the shim stack mod on my stock forks and I have to say that I thought it would be way more difficult.

Shipping charges are what kill us in canada. Whatever you guys pay you can easily double or triple cost of shipping to up north, trust me I know.

It's as easy, especially with the info you can find here. If i can do it, anybody can

Like inda said, you don't have to replace the seals and bushing especially if they're still in good shape. I did it on mine more for the experience than anything else cuz they still looked good. I also didn't want to tear them again in a few month, kinda start from a clean slate since I thought it'd be hard to tear down (and it really isn't).
As for spring rate and weight, on my 01 kx fork I didn't replace them and I weigh 170 in gear, so far no complain.

If you haven't already done it, just respring the existing forks for your weight and see how that feels. That was a major improvement for me, but then I bought into the hype about the KX conversion, and now here I am.

If you still want a better front suspension, you can either:
- get clapped out forks for cheap, then have to pay to rebuild them.
- get newer forks that don't require a rebuild, but you will pay more for them.
- get a different bike.

I didn't have time to learn how to revalve my forks. I tried it anyway, but it just didn't work out for me.

No matter what direction you go, you will pay. No surprise there, eh?

My forks were brand new off a parted-out KX125 so no rebuild was required, but a revalve WAS required. Heck, they actually had to be revalved twice (no charge for the second revalve).

Do you want to race? Get a different bike. Do you want to play ride with the kids? Respring the front end and call it good.

Doesn't matter that Inda posted the link. I've been an eBay member for over 9 yrs and I know my way around (not to mention a few secret doorways  ). I've been watching auctions with KX parts ever since I became interested in the conversion. I've been watching the auctions mentioned above since they began, plus several more. I can guarantee the forks alone will go for $200+ with shipping. There are 3 or 4 more trees on eBay as well. The wheels are just crazy right now if you get a complete one. Several wheels are there, but with no rotor or a damaged rotor. A new rotor's gonna cost you $100.

Gotta snipe that sh*t!

Bid high.... you don't want to be outbid by a few dollars if you want to get the conversion done.
This guy has everything!

He even has a nice set of WP KTM conventionals going dirt cheap! I wouldn't mind trying those myself. I had some on my 98 KTM 250 EXC and they were awesome after setting the clickers soft....

Yeah, esnipe is the way to go. That's how I got all my stuff. My forks were '03 KX125's with gold valves in them, and the stock valves included, plus all the Racetech literature and stickers, for $152. I told the dude I needed the axle spacers if he had them, and he sold those to me for I think $5. When I got the stuff he had included the used ones, plus a new set. I was happy.
