Exactly... AOS = Air/Oil Separate, a closed chamber design. Showa calls it Twin Chamber. The KYB AOS S.S.S. coil spring forks have remained mostly the same aside from a few improvements with the free piston and some leaf spring type addition, since 2006, but the key is in Yamaha's development and tuning of the S.S.S. fluid dynamics and valving stacks vs all the other manufacturers, who until just recently, all needed a revalve straight off the showroom floor for the bike's intended purpose it was marketed for... The 2020+ KX250X KYB AOS and KX450X Showa Twin Chamber forks, 2024 Beta ###RR Race Edition, and YZ125X/YZ250X, and 2024 WP/KTM suspensions (took them only 25 years to have a proper setup or even close!) are the few that are really well set up as stock.bebite wrote: 05:27 pm Oct 26 2024 I also found something else out that I didnt know through this......Apparently the KYB AOS fork which this is, is the same as the KYB SSS. The "AOS" was KYB's name for the fork while Yamaha used the same fork and slightly different valving and called it SSS

2006 KX250F was when Kawasaki went to Showa on the MX bikes since at least the early 80's.
Chuck78, here is you a question to ponder:
My first KDX came stock with Showa forks. Which KDX was it?
Sorry, I missed seeing this! I'm going to guess it must've been a 1985 or earlier 175/200/250/400/420.... The C-Series were KYB, as were all the water cooled KDX's... Which model exactly, I don't have a clue!

1985 KDX80
The forks were made by Showa. I think most of the earliest models had KYB.
