I'd do a water pump seal while it's apart.

it wouldnt be apart, you can take the inner clutch cover off without disturbing the water pump
might even be able to do this job with only the outer clutch cover off but i doubt it

Alright so just got around to taking the beast apart. Not far into the project the longer screw on the clutch cover appears to be stripped, so as of now I'm at a standstill. More help pleasee

a couple of options
is it sticking out far enough to get a pair of locking vice grips on it?
if not, you may have to get a dremel with a cut of wheel and cut a slot in it so you can use a flat head screwdriver
you might get lucky and be able to flatten the head with a hammer and then remove the screw with an impact screw driver (really a necessity with any motorcycle)
the last (and perhaps easiest) option is to get a drill bit one size larger then then body of the screw and just drill the head off
once all the other screws are out and the cover is removed you can get the vicegrips on the shaft of the screw and remove it
