It has made a couple of trips between ND and WA fully loaded with 3 bikes and never a problem. Light enough I used to tow it behind my '85 Scirocco before I got rid of it.

Thank you for posting. You got a really good deal.
There is a Tractor Supply where I live at in Houston. I will call them and see if they have any sales or used trailers available.
I was thinking
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/c ... d-capacity but I think 7' long may be too small for my kdx 220.

I take it back. Went out and measured and its a 4'x7' just like the one you linked above. Boy they sure have gone up in price from 6 years ago.

Thank you for that.
So your bike fits well in that trailer? Any complaints? I plan to get a trailer soon.

My bike fits well, as you can see in the pic the ramp doesn't make contact with the bike. My only issue is with 3 bikes loaded it gets a bit crowded, bu t that doesn't happen often enough for me to do anything about it lol. Plus you will be amazed at all the other things you end up using your trailer for, especially if you don't have a pick up truck.

Still looks like a cheap Harbor Freight style trailer & most importantly for too much $$$
Here;
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/4415065442.html No pictures but the size is right!
Or this:
http://houston.craigslist.org/pts/4461480642.html HF trailer, priced right and bigger wheels!
I'll find you some more.....
One more...
http://houston.craigslist.org/for/4465711135.html...nice trailer here $250!
And another....
http://houston.craigslist.org/mpo/4440961256.html...set up for bikes already.
I've seen a couple jet ski trailers for cheap, small and light weight...depending on how much work you want to do to get one "bike" ready....they'd be a good choice for towing behind a car.

one thing about the last trailer I like over the HF is the rail
it greatly helps in adding rigidity to the whole trailer but it also provides a great tie down point for when you wont haul that washer and dryer for your aunt

Thank you very much. Really appreciate that. I have to make sure the one I pick I can carry to back yard as well with the help of my wife. My gate to backyard is like 5-6' wide. That folding trailer could fit in the garage if needed.

At these prices, trailers do not last long, try the one right above it.

don't go cheap imo. That would work but you would hate it later because your limited as to what you can use it for. Think about it for a min. If you get just a regular trailer you can easily use it to haul other things.
I have one like bufftester and I love it. I now use it for the atv and I use it for the mower and moved things with it. Poop for the garden hahahaha. Bike on the weekends. I agree with the steel mesh being somewhat weak. I just slap some plywood down and all good. Something with sides helps secure a lot.
So I searched your cl and seen some good deals actually from a dealer. Save a few more weeks and pick one of his trailers up. Dang trailers in your area go for a ton. Here in my area they are fairly cheap not too many farms and such I suppose.
This is a pretty good deal for your area in mine I could pick it up for a bit cheaper.

Nice enclosed you can use as a sleeper. This is my next plan or something along these lines. I can camp and ride the next day. Thought about an RV but Im not that lazy.
same guy but if you want a good trailer from the looks and with larger tires this looks like something you need to check out imo.

Go also and check out a home depot or lowes if you got something like that around and see their prices.
A kdx fits in most cars too just pop the forks off and rear swingarm and good to go

I really appreciate the comments and advice and you are correct. I can do so much with a trailer and may as well think of it as an investment and not going so cheap. Most importantly, I plan to use it for years to come.
Thanks for the research for me.

Update:
Today I got a hitch installed on my 2002 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder from U-Haul.
Now its trailer purchase. I think I just decided to go ahead and get this trailer new and get it over with :
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/c ... d-capacity I am tired of searching on CL. I just called tractor supply and they mention its already built. I just come there and pay and haul away. Of course I have to get it registered later.
My car can pull a max of 1000 LBS and this trailer weighs 325 lb and bike weighs about 230Lbs, so I should not have a problem with pulling.
I will have to mount hooks up top on trailer. Its a 4x7 trailer so I sure hope it fits.
What do ya'll think?

50 bucks more and you can haul drywall
I know, I know, you will only haul your dirtbike with it but trust me, things will come up
(oh, and the 4X8 has 13 inch tires instead of 12)
it does weigh 75 pounds more though
I think the one you posted will do the trick but for the extra 50, I would go one size up

What type of straps are used to tie the bike down? I have never tied a bike down.

goodoboy wrote:What type of straps are used to tie the bike down? I have never tied a bike down.
any ratchet strap should do but there are always the "one-up" types
some people prefer loops around the handle bars rather then hooks because there is less chance of a loop popping off
if you have regular 7/8th bars all hooks ive seen fit but if you run 1 1/8th fatty bars some hooks get tight and leave marks on the handle bars
one more thing to consider, ratchet straps are a wear item and just like the tires you want to replace them before they fail so check for signs of wear as they get older

Ok
here is what I got.
I bought two rachet straps.
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... a0f03c.jpg
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... bee876.jpg I don't think I can hook it here.
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... e9693d.jpg
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... f701a6.jpg
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... 120d65.jpg
http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y45 ... 2022f9.jpg
Questions:
1. I bought these to mount to the frame in the corners. Is this the right size?
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/s ... -pack-of-2 If this will work, then what size drill do I need to put a hole so I can screw the hooks in.
2. Do I need to sit on the bike in the trailer and then attempt to strap it down? I don't have any help to hold it down.

What size bolts do have mounted to connect the straps too?
I bought these today
