OH! OK, I know what you mean now. Yes, it is on the list. I bought one of those for my '87. It just had a plastic piece without the metal piece behind it. They didn't come with both until '88. That concludes today's history lesson, class.

Jason,
Why would you part it if it needs to be replated? It's a 91... it may need it. And if it does...so what! It would then be fresh...right? What did you get it for? Pricewise..... that is....

Automatic choke shut off. It's a "feature".
The plunger on my 97 drops as soon as the engine fires. Don't have to worry about forgetting to shut it off. LOL

It is not so much "just a replate", but a replate in combination with other known/unknown possibilities.
send crankshaft off to RB Designs to get it rebuilt - $160 shipped
replate - $225 shipped
all internal bottom end bearings, circlips, bushings, etc. $125 or so
top end kit - $100
complete gasket kit - $65-ish
kickstarter troubles ???? ratchet gear is $40 and
clutch IS slipping $?? just plates or notched hub, worn basket??
It can all add up pretty quickly, so I am waiting to see how the engine is first. If the motor is not worth it financially, then at least I have an USD complete front end out of it.

I saw what you guys were talking about on the choke boot and a zip tie. I guess the brass rod is wore away on the inside preventing it from catching and holding.
Thanks, gentlemen!

Here's a follow up to a point that Indawoods made.
From the RACE-15 Kawasaki service bulletin from July 25, 1980
KDX250-A1
KX250-A6
"1. Team Kawasaki motocross mechanics use a chain protector to reduce the possibility of damage to the shift shaft and crankcase. The protector may be fabricated using the description below..."
Way to wait 7 years to implement it on the KDX200.

The 35mm PWK I have for my WR is like that too. Never bothered figuring out how to fix it.

I just prop it up w/ a split piece of vinyl line when starting...LOL.

I took the carb off and took the choke mechanism off. Mine feels notchy inside. I have a spare carb, so I guess I will grab the choke mechanism from it and use it. I hope it is better.
