No reason not to, unless your riding doesn't require it. If you ride hard with a lot of clutching then you will need to change it more often. If your riding is more laid back then you can go longer.

I have seen that with different rides the oil will last longer or shorter. To put an hour limit on the oil is a bit harsh. I can tell by the feel of the shifting and the color of the oil in the site glass when it needs to be changed. Sometimes it is after 2 rides, sometimes after several.

If you are nervous then change it after every ride and be happy with the piece of mind. If you have a good feel for the way your bike reacts then find your own change interval.
