Sorry to say no it will not.The engine side is to small, the airbox side is to big and overall it's to short.rbates9 wrote:http://www.jetsrus.com/individual_parts/016_150_su.html Will fix all of the carb problems.

I'm getting really bummed out about the needle situation.Starting to think it's time to give it up as a bad choice. My wife is telling me to stop being pessimistic,we'll get it somehow. To that end we visited the local shop I talked about in an earier post. Was up there to see if he had a 5FL52,well he did till he sold it 3ish years ago.I was out taking the dog for a pee in his "junker yard" and what did I spy on a pile of forks but this

Does that look better or what?It even came with a clutch perch I was missing.

Had a battered lime green grip on it so I'm pretty sure it's Kawa perch but I'd like a confirmation please. While there we talked to the owner about the needle and missing airbox. He said he will have a look in his miscelaneos carbs box,no promises but.............
He also knows I need the airbox and from what I read into it he might just know a guy...................

The 86 KX250 airbox looks very similar in this picture. Maybe someone can chime in here or you could check the part numbers and see if they are the same. The cover that is visible in this picture looks exactly like the one on my 87 KDX.

Nope. I looked up the parts fiche for the 250 and the 125 and they are different. You need to watch your local CL like a hawk for a parts bike.
Also, a complete airbox for a 1987 model just sold a few days ago for $20 on ebay complete with the boot and the lid. Keep watching and one will surface eventually.

Subscribed! Yours looks like it will be lots of fun rebuilding... at least it came with a pipe! I had to buy a DG pipe, and I need an air box for mine too.
The kaw part # for your bike's needle is 16030-1020, it shows 16030-1057 for my bike but it doesn't include the little wire like the 86. Maybe just a 16030 needle will work, someone else might know as I need one also.

This is for your 88 RHG?In my "research" the 86-7 have a different carb than the 88.I also found this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/KAWASAKI-KDX-200 ... 1e754a8f36 .Don't let the fact it's in the UK put you off, shipping from there can (sometimes) be surprisingly affordable.

Re: An ambitious 86 200 project
Yes it is for my 88 and yes the 88 model came with a bigger carb, but I figured at least the needle would be the same. I saw that airbox on there but was hoping to find one locally first.
Edit: Nevermind you have a MInuki carb mine is a Keihin, it still could have the same needle but that slims down the chances.

OK RHG how'd you get the tank looking that good?

I'm thinking my 8" buffer with a sewn wheel to get the real bad stuff off then hit the loose wheel to get in real nice.Yeah I love polishing, probably have the shiniest KDX ever when I'm done
(can you tell I'm a street rider first?)

Re: An ambitious 86 200 project
I started by scraping all the white layer of sun rotted plastic off with a razor blade and a pocket knife. All the flat or outside curves I used the razor blade and for the inside curves I used a Buck 110 pocket knife. Start by scraping with the tank using about a 90* angle with straight even passes from one end to another. Try to stay at the same layer of plastic once you get down to the good stuff because it will continue to get darker as you go down and you will have dark splotches, you can kinda see it in my pictures if you look hard. You can do criss-cross passes to help even it out. Once you have the whole thing down to where you want it then start wet sanding it with your choice of grits, I only used 500 but It would probably be best to start at 400 then go to 600 and end up at 800 or so. After that then start with a fairly heavy compound on your buffer. I used a wool pad on a high speed bosh drill, It seems to work best when it gets a little warm but stay moving constantly.

I don't think I trust myself to use a blade on the tank like that,I'm just not steady enough. My luck I'd be looking for a new tank.
