Yea. Mine is EE010790. So I'm guessing it's the 10,790 model built so it's gatta be a 90 cause I doubt they built over 10,000 in 89.

On the back of the Kawasaki '89-'94 KDX200 motorcycle service manual it says that the following engine numbers are as follows;
1989= DX200E-000001 - DX200E-006000
1990= DX200E-006001 - DX200E-013000
1991= DX200E-013001 - DX200E-019600
1992= DX200E-019601 - DX200E-022500
1993= DX200E-022501 - DX200E-029000
1994= DX200E-029001 - And up...
Where mine is DX200E-0107XX, it shows that it is a 1990 engine. I hope this helps anyone who is in the same situation that I was in.

I know this is an old-ish thread that just got necro bumped but I figure I will add to the confusion a little bit more.
My engine number is 002419, a fairly early '89 obviously, and my flywheel is held on with a nut.
So the nut vs bolt argument may not really mean anything.
What year is my bottom end? 89, or 90?

It's possible that an earlier owner replaced the 89 crank with a later unit.
