Swapin Hornet for KDX220R

Thinking about Selling my Hornet 600 to get a KDX220R, Its my only transport so ive got a few questions

How often do the pistons last in these?
Do they have keys? (Theres a few scums around here but i know them all since i was about 10 but they would still rob it, Plus my mums area is full of scums and dont know one of them)
Whats the Power delivery like on these? I had a very Mint Dt125R 99 model as my last bike wich was a bit quick when i got my DEP pipe, I know its not going to be as quick as my Hornet.
Whats the Standard Suspension like on these? My DT Suspension front an rear where like a sponge waaaay too soft for even just a flat field.

Pistons: I don't know hour wise but some people have gone 10+ years. All depends on you taking care of your bike properly and how you use it.

Keys: No, the KDX is not a dual sport. Unless you are in a country where you can pick up an SR version, it is a 100% dirt bike.

Power: Awesome IMO. It is way more powerful than a DT125. Delivery is very smooth with a good power hit when you get on the pipe.

Suspension: Stock front suspension good for 130lb rider. Rear for 180lb. Re-spring them for your weight and they actually work pretty good IMO.

there is no comparision to the dt125 and the kdx.....the kdx is 100 times better everywhere........and...did i read the post right.........."the honet is your only trasport"???????

Yeh the hornet (Honda 599) is my only transport but id be selling it for a KDX220R hopefully

I have used my kdx220 for riding to work & visiting my girlfriend (20 mile round trip) when my other bike has been off the road pending repairs etc...& its bloody awful if im honest....the lights are poor, the fuel consumption is dreadful & oil expensive. The knobbly tires dont grip that well on the road & the bike runs like a bag of crap as tuned 2 strokes dont like to cruise along at a steady rate of rpm...also i work shift work so going to work at 5.30am or coming home at 22.30pm doesnt go down too well with my neighbors.. RING DING A DING!!....however the kdx can do all the above if really need be but its just not designed for it..its a case of can you live with it on the road for any length of time & i doubt many could....my advice is buy the kdx for play & buy another bike for work & you cant go wrong.

I find this thread odd, if only because a decent Hornet would have a value of 2-4 times that of a decent KDX...

My hornet was worth around £2400 but since i had a tankslapper ive dinted the tank, snapped one side of the mudgaurd, Scratched the clocks and fucked the tail on it. It worth probly £1900 now and most KDX's ive seen have been goin for about £1400 and i need alot of new gear.

Are you going to ride it on the dirt at all?

I ride my KDX on the road ( to get to trails, down the shop etc) it gets a tad boring but very frustrating after half an hour driving at 80km/h (50mp/h?).
Unless its on tight/ congested roads that dont go over about 60km/h (40mp/h?) Its great fun to split/filter traffic on though

Anything more than that a street bike is the was to go, or 4 stroke motard.
