any downfalls to an 06 framed hybrid? Found a nice kdx-kx125 hybrid fairly close to me using an 06 frame

I'd check the VIN to confirm the year. In the US, 2005 was the last year for the kx 125.

I've been happy with my '04 (same as an '05) and am building another '04.

I haven't ridden anything other than the '04, so I can't give a comparison to an '02 for example. I'm sure you can find reviews that would go over the pros and cons of the changes over the years.

If you were building a hybrid, the downside to using an '04-'05 is that the parts aren't as plentiful and are usually more than if you were building a hybrid with a '99-02' design. But it sounds like you've found a complete bike, so that wouldn't be an issue.

Do you have any pictures of the bike?

The cookbook threads at the top of this section will give you an idea, plus there are many similar posts with pictures and steps of building a hybrid.

Here is what I did: http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7502

well i bothced the getting a picture thing. its no longer on craigslist to get the pic, but I have the talked with the owner and have his number still. I dont know if I am going to pull the trigger to buy this or not.. He isnt moving much on price.. He has owned it 2 years. put about 20 hours on it. Hasnt did the rings or anything. Just cleanings, oil and filter type maintanence. He gave 3500.oo for it and whats 3400.oo. I said "after owning it 2 years and riding it how do you think you are losing money? It needs to be inspected rings wise and what not. offered 3k" He didnt take. Acted mad.

THIS BIKE IS POWERED BY A JEFF FREDETTE MOTOR. IT IS PORTED AND POLISHED AND COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED FROM THE BOTTOM END UP. IT HAS AN OVERBOARD 36 MM CARB. IT IS MATED TO A MOTOTASANARI REED CAGE. THE HEAD WAS MILLED FOR IMPROVED RESPONSE. IT HAS AN FMF KNARLY PIPE WITH SILENCER. IT IS MOUNTED IN AN 06 KX 125 CHASSIS. IT LOOKS AND FITS LIKE FACTORY.

THE FRAME WAS SAND-BLASTED AND PAINTED WITH A GLOSS WHITE IMRON PAINT JOB. THE FOOT PEGS ARE PIVOT PEGS. IT HAS CARBON FIBER FRAME GUARDS ALONG WITH A CUSTOM MADE SKID PLATE OUT OF 7071 ALUMINUM. THE WHEELS ARE OFF OF A '07 KX 450 ALONG WITH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLY.

THE BIKE INCLUDES WAVE ROTORS, ORING CHAIN, AND SPECIALIST REAR SPROCKET. RADIATORS ARE FITTED WITH MSR FRONT GUARDS AND WORKS CONNECTION BRACES. THE TIRES ARE IRC VOLCANDUROS. THE SUSPENSION IS SHOWA TWIN CHAMBER FRONT FORKS, REVALVED TO ACCOMODATE A 170 TO 180 RIDER. THE REAR SHOCK IS A KYB, REVALVED THE SAME.

THE BIKE HAS PRO TAPER WINDAM BARS, CYRCRA HAND GUARDS, AND PRO TAPER MOUNTS FITTED TO A KX250F SET OF UPPER AND LOWER CLAMPS. THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS FROM A KLX 450 WITH CUSTOM ALUMINUM BRACKETS MOUNTING IT TO THE CLAMPS, CONTROLLED BY A FACTORY KDX LIGHT SWITCH ON THE RIGHT HANDLE BAR. THE GRIPS ARE PRO TAPER DUAL COMPOUND. IT IS ALSO FITTED WITH A BOYSEN FLEX GRIP.

THIS BIKE HANDLES LIKE A 125 WITH TWICE THE TORQUE. THE BIKE LUGS THROUGH THE TRAILS IN 3RD GEAR LIKE IT'S ON RAILS. THIS IS NOT YOUR RUN OF THE MILL KDX! THIS BIKE WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO DO!

Thats the description. I had that saved

I'm already up to 2500 on my build... and I still need to sandblast and powdercoat...amoung other minor things

I think it is a pretty nice deal too, depending on the condition of bearing, plastics...

I'll take the kdx'd 05 kx125 over the katoom any day, especially with the amount of engine work that been to that one. Assuming there's documentation from Fredette on the engine work then that bike is worth every penny.

Bummer on the picture, I would have liked to have seen what a white framed hybrid looked like.

Not too hot on the white myself. I am seriously considering this bike. I am unsure of how it would get titled though.

VIN number follows the frame. For titling purposes it's a kx125.
