I just purchased a 1998 KDX 200 running good with some year KX forks on the front they look like they were blue anodized at one time (faded) question is could I purchase a black MX tank and MX plastics to fit the 98 frame/sub frame...bike already has aftermarket plastic (worn)
I would like the lower tank look and the tank on it was painted at some point and has sanded swirls all over it where the guy used too coruse of grit.
thanks for the help
Bike is being stripped to frame and green frame is getting powdercoated silver, I want to keep frame and just install MX plastic and seat and tank...is this posible or will I have to weld ne mountsfor plastic
98 KDX help

If you want all this stuff based on looks, why did you get a KDX? Maybe you should get a KX.
The later year KDXs had black tanks. You could buy one of those, but it's not going to look like a KX. The plastics are different between the KX and KDX.

If you could buy one running for 500 bucks wouldn't you?
why does anyone in this section covert their KDX to a mx frame?? wouldn't it be for KDX motor relibility and MX look??
now I know the plastics are different between the KDX and KX if I buy a KX rear fender and number plates will they bolt right up?? if so what year??
I am sorry but what I was also trying to get at was: what year MX black tank will work with the least amount of fab... welding is not an issue, just don't want to get into plastic welding. any input or experiences would be great
thanks

Look has nothing to do with it. It has to do with rigidity and lightness.
A KX fender will not work on a KDX. Maier makes a MX fender for a KDX. http://frpoffroad.com has them for sale. A KX tank will not work on a KDX either. Who would want that dinky tank anyway?
If you want a MX look... do the hybrid.

I don't think there are many people that have done a hybrid project "for KDX motor relibility and MX look" as you say. It's to get the tractable motor and wide ratio transmission of the KDX in a lighter, more modernly suspended frame.
Hopefully someone can answer your appearance questions.
