Having a bit more fun. subvalves this time...

Had a little trip out at Brown Mtn sat. I felt it was lacking on the top end, but seemed to be running good. I was lugging 1st and 2nd most of the day anyway. Some incredible rock climbs, rock hopping, trees, and generally tricky situations. I had a great time.

I decided to have a look at the powervalves when I got home. First inspection showed the rod actuating fine from the RH side when i revved it. I removed the arm and pipe and operated it by hand. The main valve was moving correctly, but neither subvalve. One was closed, and one was partially open.

While I'm no dentist, you're teeth seem all sorts of messed up.

Only the left side then, or are you replacing more since you're in there already?

The left side is missing teeth. The right side is in 3 pieces. So Both of those will have to be replaced, and I might as well replace the idler as well. The rod and main valve seem to be ok.

This isn't an 'H' or 'A' bike, is it.

Guess I could reasonably be expected to know what model your bike is...but I don't.

In any case..you've found out by now that those little pieces are spendy, 'eh?

It'll run a whole lot better with them NOT broke!

It's an E bike, sorry. 89 200.

There are not supposed to be three pieces to the right side. However, now there are. For some odd reason it would not work that way.

Yeah, spendy. We had to replace them in my buddies 91 recently. They were broken when he got it. Mine were whole and unbroken when I put the top end back together about a month ago. Somewhat worn out though, apparently.

I understand the reason there are three pieces in your case is a combination of it being an 'E' bike, AND one of the subvalves is broken.

I fished a subport drum (part of one) out of my exhaust pipe a couple years back. It didn't look quite as good as yours!
