Oh, well once on the trails my stupidy would be instantly confirmed!
My brother and I did 2 "exploration" trips last year with the intention of opening up some new trails. The one in July was especially brutal with 90 degree weather and the 2 of us lifting our KDX's over blowdown countless times. At one point, we were down to shirts off totally drenched in sweat, running low on water and at about the 1/2 way point. The kicker was that when we got to the end of said trail, it was covered with 2 feet of snow!
We decided then that "exploring" new trails was a bit overrated.
BTW, our last trip 3 weeks ago ended early due to my brother breaking his wrist.

He was following me 4th gear wide open over in Oregon desert country and didnt see the large embedded rock I had narrowly missed.
