Spring (April, May) is good. Woods aren't generally closed 'til June, and closer to NOT being as sloppy as this time of year.
Fall is good..but fire season may not be off 'til end of October.
Spring is not as good a choice as Fall if we would be riding through cricks and streams....like Briggs Valley. I'd suppose that would be a holy terror in the spring.
In any case, trails can be chosen that will lessen the ogre of the time-frame.
Besides...if it's complete crap...so what? It would still be a good time....one to tell around the campfires of future rides.
Or...we could just sit around, drink beer and make up all the 'facts' about the ride of the day!!
