rear brake caliper

Anybody knows if any other brand or model would fit an 05?
Mine's fubar, usually I can see at least 2 or 3 for sale on ebay, but nada for the last 2 weeks

89-94 kdx200 rear caliper will fit.

Beware some sellers will sell things and they do not know the exact year or model of the item.

I installed a 2001 kdx220 rear caliper on my '89 with no problem. They are the same.

Oh it's workee plenty good, BUT, I stripped the allen bolt of one of the pin. No big deal I said, drill it and use an EZ out. Did that and the mofo EZ out SNAPPED

That's stuff is made of kriptonite or sumthin and it's almost impossible to drill that sucker out

So now got to get a new one (150 bux new

) or used on ebay...

Oh. Ooops.

Do the pads come out? I don't recall if there is enough room to angle them out with one pin out (presuming one of yours DID come out). I think there is NOT enough room. Anyway, if you can get the pads out you might be able to back the pin out from the 'in' side.

I don't s'pose you used anti-seize on those threads last time you had the pins out?

Use that...and a good wrench (not one that's been rounded off in some other stress situation)..and you won't have that problem next time.

yep, one out and one stuck, no room to get the pads out

The pads are not quite worn to the metal, maybe 1 mm so good enough if I HAVE to ride

I might try to get it out when I get another caliper, but I doubt it will cuz it seems stuck there pretty good (oh and no antiseize). i have a propane torch though

In any event lesson learned!

Keep in mind the o-rings, piston seals and stuff like that in there. Yeah...calipers do get hot, but not propane torch hot!

How 'bout a hacksaw blade?

It's been a long time since I had one stuck (having used anti-seize and all. Did I mention that part?), but there is a niggling in my head that says I DID get access to the pin, but I didn't have enough room to get any tool ON the pin.

BTW...another great place to use an impact (manual or air) before bad things happen.

I've asked a few people on Ebay that are selling KDX parts if they happen to have a caliper - so far no luck. I'll keep my eyes and ears peeled.

I have a rear caliper off of a 94 kx250. I believe it is the same. It appears to be the same as on my 2001 two hunny-riffic. Let me know if your interested. I got this bike almost complete am going to part it out. Let me know if anybody needs anything from it.

I'm 98% certain that the pads can be replaced with one pin still in place.

It seems to me that I replace them by removing both pins, pulling the old pads, putting the "front" pin back in, and sliding the pads into the caliper from the rear, hooking the "front" pin, rotating the rear of the pad up against the spring clips and replacing the "rear" pin.

That procedure won't work if it is the "rear" pin. I'm 99% sure the pads can be replaced if you dismount the rear wheel, though.

This is not a long term solution, of course. If I knew how expensive those discs were, I would have taken better care of my brakes!

An Ebay seller by the name of scarlett04 has a KDX rear brake caliper. He said he will list it tomorrow. Hope this works out.
