1996 clutch spring replacement dilemma
Is there something you all would suggest as an alternative to oem springs that have the same performance? Like prox or something idk?
I’ve been reading and discovered that the springs I got with the ebc kit are probably not correct(csk30). I wasn’t sure about going with hd springs anyways, I’ve never thought it was necessary. The 96 springs I’ve read are weaker to start with and are likely now not what they used to be. Oem 97+ seem to be what’s recommended. I’m happy to pay the price, but they have to be ordered individually at $15 ish a piece with shipping.

My clutch does pretty good overall but from experiencing a few clutches die on other bikes, I would say the engagement isn’t as solid as new. It seems like it takes just a moment to hook up at higher rpm and maybe a bit “vague?”. Still rideable, I had The chance to get the kit pretty cheap and have had good results from EBC products so I purchased it before I did any research. If true, it’s crazy that the spring issue still persists.

That number you have is the part # for one of the judder springs. You want part #92144-1160 for the 1997 and up spring coil spring. RMATV has them for $7.40 each and shows they have plenty in stock.

I used to use partzilla exclusively, but now I start shopping around more as their website has lost a lot of its ease of functionality and navigation and they show parts available in a short back order. Which are completely unavailable nowadays.

My OEM parts from Ron Ayers came in today. I will use them again. I used to use them a lot.
Partzilla got proud at some point in the last few years, just like RMATVMC.
A screw for the side panel on my recently purchased Eliminator shows "available in 200 - 210 days" on Partzilla. I had never seen that far of a lead time!
Chuck78, I used to check RM for parts availability or discontinued. Is it still the best option on that?

For actual availability, I find that using CMSNL.com in Netherlands to be the best source to check against Partzilla's odd lead time estimates. Many parts are now NLA, yet Partzilla will tell you available in 7-12 days, or 200-210 days etc...
Consolidated Motorcycle Spares Netherlands website typically will buy out entire old stock inventories from distributors and large shops as well, and thus they often have brand new NLA OEM parts available, but if Partzilla shows something having these odd lead times, but CMS NL shows the item unavailable, it is 99.9% guaranteed that the part in question is NLA from the OEM manufacturer.
As I alluded to as well, the fact that CMS NL show a part ilas in stock does not necessarily mean it's not discontinued from the OEM manufacturer, but if they show it as unavailable, it likely is discontinued.

I had several parts I ordered come back as discontinued. I even went to the local dealer and was told the same. I just looked on RM. They show usually ships in 7-10 days. I guess they are not too helpful on that unless it has been discontinued for a long time maybe.

I ended up getting them on eBay. I cancelled my big order of jutter springs and got the correct ones coming haha
