So question to the boffins on hear as advice is needed, kdx 200 1997 clutch retaining nut.
Does this not have a retaining lock washer or is it just fully relient on the nut being torqued to 64Nm.

Not a lock washer but it should have a large spring washer
One thing to keep in mind that only recently crossed my mind is the 64nm is a dry torque measurement so will need to be reduced slightly if covered in oil

Hey - yes it has a concave/convex washer and I put that on with raised part way from engine.
So the Nm is basically what keeps the nut in place! What a crazy system. Yes that what the manual says max Nm 64.

It was already answered above. Look at manual or parts diagram for reference if you think you are missing parts.
