Hello everyone. I wanted to share a 2004 KDX 220R that I found and purchased about 5 years ago. I am located in Fort Myers, Florida. It came from the dealer showroom in 2004 and was put in a basement. I owned a KDX 200 as a younger man and loved it so the 220 became a project of enjoyment. The bike is better than new and I've only ever ridden it around our development. I am struggling with keeping it a museum piece or selling to someone who has seat time to enjoy it. Check out the video and give me your thoughts. I do not know what the bike is worth, what would be a good reference to determine an asking price? I can answer other questions if the video isn't enough information.
Thanks! -Mike

From the rules you saw, but passed over:
#1 Provide your location in your listing! This is important, even if your location is in your profile.
#2 Post an asking price. This is not an auction site. If you are going to list an item, you should know what you want out of it. Items for trade should also include a cash price, unless you have a specific item(s) you wish to trade for. Price negotiations should be handled via email or PM.
No offense, but you sign up one day and post something for sale the next. Please at least follow the forum rules. Thank you.

Hi KDXGarage, my apologies. I am located in Fort Myers Florida and I will adjust the post to reflect this information. I had an account several years ago and followed the forum to learn all about the best practices to enhance the 220. My Comcast email changed and all my original access got lost in translation so I made a new account. I am not trying to auction the bike. Do you have advice how to come to a value that will be an a fair asking price?
Kindly,
-Mike

Hi. Welcome back. Do you have a Facebook account? Facebook Marketplace is the main selling area for most things now. Craigslist is about dead. You might also try Mercari, Offer Up, etc., but Facebook Marketplace is going to be the place with the most eyes.
I would see what others are asking for SOMEWHAT similar bikes in your area. I would price it real high and work my way down over time. I would say "the asking price is xxx", so someone can know you are negotiable.
At the real high end of asking price, keep in mind the out the door price of a 2025 KLX300R which is about the closest modern bike to compare to.
There are several rubber parts on it that are not "better than new" as they were installed about 22 years ago, in the spring of 2003 when it was being assembled.
If it was super low hours, then why did you rebuild the suspension??
Without seeing it in person, I would say it may go for mid to high $3,000 something.

Many thanks KDXG, very helpful information and education.
I am a 215lb rider and I had installed: Race Tech springs to my weight, Gold valves, etc...Ron Black carb, VForce, Wiseco, Pro Circuit...I got on a roll...It was great fun building. I had a similar journey with a pair of DRZ's...a model E for dual sport and an SM (turned into a 460) with lots of goodies. May I ask, what do you think will be with the upcoming Kawa two stroke? Loads of speculation...building anticipation. Will it be a track bike, enduro, or something else? Will it make the KDX (more) obsolete?

I haven't kept up, but assume KX250 for MX.
