i have a stupid question.
is my first time when i chage gaskeets on a 2 stroke engine
i done it beforre on cars, but never on motocycles,
how can i veryfi if i put the piston on righr direction on my sons kdx200 from 1998 ?
engine starts and runs ok ( in my opinion) my son ride it for 10 mins, but then i remember about the piston, if i mount the piston backwards, should the engine starts and run?

Hello comanacu. Would it start and run if installed backwards, possibly but I don't think for long, most likely the ring gaps that were normally running secure on the intake side of the cylinder would hit a open area and catch on the edge of the cylinder on the exhaust port and rip into the cylinder.
Remove the pipe and slowly turn the motor over, if installed backwards I think you would see the open port that's on the intake side of the piston facing the exhaust port.

thx for the answer, one thing i'm sure, the piston rings are mounted with the opening towards the intake
