the chain.
i am putting a new o-ring chain on with the new sprockets. i ordered a 110 link o-ring chain and got a 120 link one. so i borrowed a buddies chain breaker, i think it was his dads from the 70's. i assume that this is similar to breaking a mtn bike chain..... :snooty: of course not. i push the pin half way out, that is as far the the tool would push it, and noticed that i have now bent my link. :shock: what the hell?! someone please help a brother out and tell me what my problem is. also, if anyone is running 12/50 gearing, is a 110 link the right size? 108 may be better for me, since i boogered 110, but i do have the 9 extra links i broke off, well, 8, one of those is boogered. :hmm:

I use a 100mm grinder to grind a pin down and knock it out with a punch.

I don't know the right length of chain for you, but I know how you split it. You get one pin started and then move to the other one on the same link. get that one pushed out all the way, then go back to the first one and push it out the rest of the way. I use a Tusk chain breaker I got from Rocky Mountain. Works on my 520 chain, and my kid's little one.

<edit> oh yeah, forgot to mention it only cost $10.00. of course then there's $8 shipping. So ya better order yoseff $90 more stuff so the shipping's free. Wimmen perfected that logic long ago.

Me too; just use a grinder. It's a good excuse to buy a new tool for the shop. And not some $10 tool either!! An expensive, $80+ tool. A 4 1/2 inch right angle grinder is almost as much fun as a dirt bike. I can make sparks fly clear across my driveway. The kids love it and with my dark goggles on, everyone in the neighborhood thinks I'm a physico. (Sorry for the spelling!!)

If you grind the ends off with your 3.937007874015748 inch grinder, the pins should come out just fine.

I know 13/50 is 110.

Don't know if 12/50 can take a 108 or not.

I recall KayD has experience with a 109 linker..... :?

i ended up using a 110 link and the stock chain guide is fine.
