I recently bought a new trail bike
I bought a not so gently used 2017 Beta Xtrainer. After riding it about 7 times, I've come to the conclusion that it's basically the modern replacement for the KDX, except that it has an electric start, a larger displacement engine, hydraulic clutch, and less sophisticated suspension....and for some reason, a horn. Not sure if I trust the oil injection system, either. I do love the electric start, though, and the low seat height. The previous owner had installed a FMF Gnarly 300RR exhaust and spark arrestor, soft saddle, and a Fastway adjustable link. I'm enjoying riding it, but will have some suspension mods done to it, and I will be hoping that it will prove to be a reliable machine. I do carry a Microstart jumper pack, just in case, because the bike does not have a kickstarter.

I bet it’s a fun bike and should be very reliable. It looks like you have access to some really nice trails. Is that in New Mexico?

These trails are in Southern California, near a town called Boulevard, just north of the US/Mexico border.

I’m considering a move back to New Mexico and it looked like very similar terrain. It appears that you have a great place to ride!

Yeas, I'm pretty lucky to have McCain Valley to ride in. It's an 80 mile drive to the high desert, and it will be getting hot now that summer is upon us. Maybe lucky to have temps in the 80s and 90s through June....but by July, it will be triple digits. Then it will be time to head north to the San Bernardino mountains for the remainder of the summer.

Nice looking scooter! You have or have had a lot of cool bikes!
Also, those are some big ass rocks on that trail.

I just sold my Xtrainer. The oil injection is easily removed. PM me if you want some links to more info.

Re: I recently bought a new trail bike
I've an Xtrainer too. I have also been saying that it's the KDX of the Noughties. I've had it three years now and sold the 220R over the winter because I just want using it any more.
If you have electric start issues, they bump start very easily. I've done a front suspension upgrade which keeps the 43mm downtubes and replaces the internals completely.
Love it and it's so easy to ride.

Sweet bike! I was able to get a few rides on a couple different model year Xtrainers and really enjoyed the bike. I instantly thought the same thing that it was a modern day KDX. Enjoy!

Re: I recently bought a new trail bike
The bike is finally all through with its ugrades and make-over. It is everything that it was designed for now, and my go-to machine for exploring any gnarly terrain and tiny trails. New graphics, new seat cover, new handle bars, revamped suspension, lots of cute doo-dads, like rear brake pedal tip and clevis, foot pegs, chain guide.
