Torque ring?

Post by Skygod1 »

I’m looking at replacing the exhaust pipe on my 200 and being new to the 2 stroke world I need just a little info. I want to get a little more low end power and after reading the thread on it I don’t quite understand what it is and where the torque ring goes. Can someone give an old guy a little clarification?

It is literally just a ring that goes between your cylinder and the expansion chamber. This makes the exhaust track longer which shifts the power down in the rpm range slightly.

Just my 2 cents.. but I took mine ring out of my KDX200 when I replaced the exhaust.. I really did not notice a whole lot of difference, but thats just me.. It sure made installing the expansion chamber retention springs easier to install, LOL..

Thanks, so if I understand you correctly, it’s a ring that is fitted into the side of the cylinder before seating the exhaust pipe? Essentially just making the exhaust just a tad longer.

Correct. Like Architect mentioned, some don't feel it adds much if anything. I've never felt the need for one on my 200 or 220.
