To make up for all this KTM talk I've been guilty of, here's some shots of the UFO vented plate that I put on my KDX after I busted up the original at the hare-scramble.



Here you can see where I cut the screen away to make room for the WER. I'm using the rubber bushings from the original plate to press down on the front of the UFO plate. (Below)


Proof that I actually do have a KDX:

As you can see, I'm running w/out handguards right now. I really don't do tight woods and I'm riding the bike a little w/out the weight of the guards. I have a new ASV lever on the brake side, an MSR Raptor on the clutch (I won 4 of the things on an ebay auction once). I have a new set of ProTaper SE Charmichael bend bars that I really like. I'm also running bar ends to help keep my grips in good shape.

Nothing special- just a good running KDX200.

But why they make vented front plates? I do not understand why.

Looks nice... how do you like the WER?

The WER is fine. I rode an XR250 with a Scotts and I like the Scotts fine, too. I bought the WER because a) it's cheaper, b) I like the mounting location and type better. It's probably not as good as a Scotts, but c) it's better than nothing. The KDX is a pretty stable bike (compared to a '92 YZ250 and '96 XR250) anyway, but I really think the WER has saved me in rocks. I've hit square rocks hiding in the grass and the whole bike jumped sideways instead of the handlebars getting yanked. In fact, I don't think I've had my handlebars yanked since I put it on (2 years ago). I have zero problems with headshake (and the XR would wiggle on dirt roads about 60-ish).

Again, though, I'm pretty much a "set it and forget it" kind of rider. I spent 1/2 hour or so the other day playing with my air screw and I can just barely tell a difference from 1-3 turns out. From 1 turn to 3 turns, yes, there's a little difference, but anything in-between was "fine". Same with my suspension- I set the clickers, and from there on out, that's just the way my bike handles. Point being, I set the WER at a little more than the middle and I've never touched it again. A guy that fiddles is going to want the Scott's, for sure.
