kdx with stock jetting running extremely rich
Its an e series with fmf fatty and PC "forest safe" silencer got it 2 weeks ago but it runs rich the whole way through 1st and 2nd gear then clears up at the beginning of 3rd and 4th but rich bogs at WOT in both 3rd and 4th(thats the highest gear i've had it in so far). P.O. had problems b/c of old spark plug washer I discovered so it has a new br8eix plug in it. When I took off the carb there was puddled gas anywhere it could puddle in the airbox. I've cleaned the carb thoroughly and blew compressed air through all passages, checked choke circuit and didn't let any air past with plunger closed. Everyones thinkin float level at this point but the float needle does close even though I don't know what the measurements are and at this point I know it closes and judging by where I have moved the float tang it should be on the too low level by now ( its at nearly 45 deg from the normal 90 deg). Float needle still looks nice and even. It had the snorkle in but have since removed. I have new silencer packing and a 45 pilot jet coming and before installing I'm gona blow torch the expansion chamber. Finally, my question is, is there anything I could be missing that would cause it to be that rich. Thanks. (I'm thinkin I gotta drill some holes in air box top+install the new silencer packing and 45 pilot)

You might want to keep an eye on the transmission level in case it is sucking transmission oil into the crankcase.
It is not like it was running great for months, then it all of a sudden changed. It could be a few things. Check the reeds, compression, etc. Hold off on the blow torch.

+1 on the crank seal
Also pull your air filter and see how it runs without it. Could be extremely dirty and restricting airflow also over oiling the filter can cause issues. Or if you don't want to run it without the filter clean it real good and lightly oil it

Just the fact that it has a fatty pipe and new silencer and removed snorkel on the stock jetting means it's never been properly jetted. Make sure everything is mechanically sound (no air leaks, cracks, reeds good, carb PROPERLY adjusted, clean filter, new plug) Then go through the jetting guide. There are no shortcuts, just go from start to finish. Your bike will thank you, the guys riding behind you will thank you.

Thank you all for the replies. Wondering why hold off on the blow torch? Sorry, I'm still learning but what are the downside of using the blow torch to clean the exhaust?
