That works for 17-character VINs, which the OP doesn't have.david wrote:What is the 10th digit of the VIN stamped on the right side of the steering head?

Re: Need help dating my KDX frame
That is a frame number, not a VIN.
To the OP, please put your county in your location.
It is a KMX, not a KDX.

What's the difference? Every frame I've ever looked at had one number, the VIN.Jason wrote:That is a frame number, not a VIN.

He should probably put his country, too.

Re: Need help dating my KDX frame
In Europe, maybe Japan and some other locations, the frames have frame numbers. 17 - digit VIN's are used in some markets, such as the USA.
The majority of people on this site are in the USA, and about 99% only know a VIN (Vehicle Idenitification Number for our non-USA and a few other places friends), with no knowledge of a frame number.
This gets asked a good bit on the web.
Here's some info for USA markets from my site:
http://www.kdxgarage.com/vininformation.html
1990 KMX200-A4
beginning frame number for 1990 is 14001
This may not be a 1990 model, but it will help all to see what is being discussed:
