I need help!

Post by jasongoldberg1669 »

Hi everyone. I recently bought a 1983 kdx 250 that was running when i got it but now has developed a non starting condition. I have replaced the coil , and it would start and seemed to run fine, but all of a sudden it wont start at all. Two days ago i pulled my left side cover off and looked at the flywheel, three of the magnets were dislodged. So i cleaned the magnets and reepoxied them into the flywheel. My question is, do those magnets need to be placed with the polarity in a certain direction to make the bike fire? Any help would be welcome.

I don't think it matters which way you put them in because the polarity is not end to end but inner to outer.
Make sure you clean off any corrosion from where the stator coil plate attaches to the cases because that is a current ground path for the ignition system

Okay that is what i found ou4 when testing the magnets yesterday.two of thempushed another magnet away at the top and pulled it in at the bottom the other two did exactly the opposite. So do they all need to be in the same order? I.e do they all need to attract at the top and repel at the bottom? And by top and bottom i mean the long side that is on the top and long side that is on the bottom.
