Front sprocket seal leaking- Help!

Hi all, oil is leaking out of my engine from the front sprocket area.
I've replaced the oil seal(pattern part) but when I put bike on the side stand
oil seeps out. If I use my MX stand(i.e. level) it doesn't leak at all.

The bush that fits in the middle of the seal is pretty worn, could that be it?
Are pattern seals ok or should I fit OEM?

Sometimes crud will work itself in & around the seal & bush leaving a ridge around the bush....

If you say the bush is worn then yes replace it....for a temporary fix try wrapping PTF plumbers tape around the bush a few times.

Regards to pattern or OE seals I would use OE there really isn't that much price difference & some pattern seals I find the rubber is a touch too hard anyway.

The collar being worn is an issue. Also replace the o-ring.

It is a common thread on here.

depending on the bike there are 2 o rings, a metal bushing and an oilseal
I would (and have) replaced all 4 at the same time

I have used the OEM seals and the leaked and I have used generic catalogue seals and they did NOT leak

2 things to consider, when you pull it out you might gouge the seat, be sure to check for that and use a small file to smooth that back out

the second thing is a small bead of black RTV

Ive come to use that on all my oil seals, just in case I did gouge the seat when removing it

I don't think an O ring was fitted on my bike(1988). Can't see one on the parts diagram.
I will get a new oil seal and bush from Kawasaki(approx. £30) and fit them.

Also check the fitment of your front sprocket. Some aftermarket ones are too thin and allow the collar to lift away from the oring.

Got the new seal and here it is!

Bush is NLA though.

In the Fall, I got sick of the leaking, and replaced the countershaft o-ring and the seal. And it held for 6+ months. Well it started leaking AGAIN this Summer.

So this time I replaced the (2) O-rings, the seal, the bushing, and the sprocket clip. Getting the sprocket clip on was not fun. I then test rode the bike, the leak stopped, and I parked the bike ... then it started leaking again a few days later. Very frustrated.

Also, I checked my chain tension and it was within specification and not too tight.

Pardon my blindness but I'm not seeing o-rings in that exploded view. I've got the same leak in my 1986 kdx200 and I'm ready to order all the proper parts but for the life of me I'm not seeing these orings yall are talking about. I see oil seal and collar. Can yall help out my feeble mind thanks.

92055 is an o-ring in Kawasaki-ese. The last four digits change, but almost all o-rings from Kawasaki start with 92055, no matter which bike it is.

92015 is a nut (or bolt??)

11009 is a gasket, etc.

OK I think I see what's going on. It seems like we've got to go to two different exploded views (crankcase and transmission) to get all the parts that can be swapped without splitting the case... oil seal 92050-033, collar 92027-1669, circlip 92033-026, and oring(s) 92055-035. Are yall suggesting to double-up on the orings to compensate for thin aftermarket countershaft sprocket possibly being the culprit on these leaks?

UPDATE: I put two O-rings in. Sprocket is now snug and no more leaking so far. Just FYI.

So even though I replaced the (2) O-rings, the seal, the bushing, and the sprocket clip TWICE, I still was dealing with the countershaft oil leak. So I have been storing it upright, off the kick stand, to keep the garage floor clean. Well guess what, no more leaks now, even when storing the bike on the kick stand. Weird.
