Help from Russia)

Post by russian »

Hello,
i have a kdx250sr, but i'm not sure what is the engine inside. Now i disassemble my engine and see 2 bearings in bottom end, that have no any crank on them. I don't know how to attach a photo here.
It has no oil pump on my engine and 3 power valves in cylinder (like on 250r version). But maybe bottom end of the engine from 250sr and the top from R version?
So my questions: what was the shaft through all the crankcase, that no need now?) And what the engine i have)

Sorry for my bad english.

If you take photos and upload them somewhere like photobucket or imageshack, then you can link them here.

We will have to have an SR owner chime in. That bearing does not exist on the US model KDX.

Have you checked the parts fiche/diagram? Most dealers, at least here in the U.S., have them on their websites.

Correct. the US model does not have the cutaway from the case or that top gear for the oil pump.

Hi,

I believe it is a balance shaft for vibration, on my SR the shaft this side of the engine has teeth where your pink arrow is, which mesh together with the primary gear (i think!), on the other side of the shaft it has a weight the other side of the engine near the magneto.

The oil pump is fitted where that circular hole is towards the top left of the photo

The KDX250 manual doesn't mention these SR differences unfortunately such as the oil pump, balance shaft etc

My guess was a balance shaft also.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
