Happy new year guys! Hope everyone had a pleasant holiday period
I'm going to fit a front brake switch on my kdx200 1990,
Can anyone inform me of thread size and pitch? I just can't find any literature for it anywhere...
I'll try to remember to get out and take a look tomorrow. It's either 10 x 1.5 or 10 x 1.25. One of those pitches is more common for Japanese bikes than the other and that's the one you want.
Alright, I'm reasonably sure that you need 10 x 1.25. This is the thread pitch that's common on Japanese bike brake systems. I don't think that it's true in every case but I've owned a lot of bikes and they all use the 1.25 pitch. I was wrong about the 1.5, though. I guess the other available 10mm brake pitch is a finer thread at 10 x 1.0.
I couldn't check the threads on my KDX for sure without taking things apart but I recently had the brakes apart and I'm sure it was the normal 10 x 1.25.
I don't have a front brake switch on my bike. I decided to skip that part and I'm just using a hydraulic/electric brake light switch on the rear master cylinder.
Good luck. The dual-sport KDX is a wonderful thing.
