Hello chaps
As you may have read in my introduction thread I'm rebuilding a 1989 KDX 200 SR. However due to the frame being broken I'm chucking all the bits onto a non SR frame and switch to the plastic tank. Maybe I'll find a spot for the oil tank and can keep the autolube system.
Now my questions are:
1) I assume my bike comes with the stock SR silencer, which has a slightly bent end (as seen here: http://www.dirtbikerider.us/Pics7/20090 ... KDX200.jpg). Does the non SR bike have the same and does it make sense to upgrade? I bought a fresh FMF fatty pipe, since the old one was completely fucked up when I bought the bike. Not sure if I should keep the silencer though.
2) There seem to be two different types of airbox lids, one with two threaded inserts, one without. What it supposed to be fixed there? (seen here: http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/ ... 1KXhTQ.jpg)
PWK35 carb and CDI upgrade still in mind for later. I just want to get it running for now.
Thanks for your help
Greetings from the UK

just clean out the silencer.
the inserts are for the CDI and regulator.

Re: Silencer and Airbox questions KDX200 1989
The SR muffler is different from the E series muffler - and the mounting bolts are 8mm on the SR and I believe that the mounting bolts on the E are 6mm. Also the rubber inserts on the SR muffler mounts are bigger than the E and when I fitted an E aftermarket muffler to my SR I had to drill out the holes in the mounting tabs on the muffler so that the rubber inserts would fit.
I may be old, I may be slow, but hey I'm still getting my leg over - a dirt bike!
